i have a 1990 toyota pickup and one morning i went outside to start it and thats when the fun began..it cranked up fine but had no power AT ALL..when i rev up the engine it takes forever to get up in rpms, HERE IS THE WEIRD PART if i retard the hell out of the timing it runs fine without a problem, i have done everything but bring it to the dealer/mechanic..

Things i have done:

1. replaced timing gears, guides, sprockets and tensioner

2. replaced distributor, wires and plugs

3. ignition coil

4. replaced tps

5. replaced fuel filter and pump

I agree, appears the timing chain is off. Is the problem after you replaced the gears? Also I hope you weren't stomped but rather stumped. A stomping would hurt way too much. LOL

im going with timing off a tooth..man this sux..i took the valve cover off and aligned it at the bottom in a clockwise direction and found it was off a little bit but hopefully enough to cause problems..i remembered what i did wrong when i installed the new sprockets, i went passed top dead center and went counter clockwise to correct it putting slack on the wrong side causing to be off by a tooth..HOPEFULLY thats what it is..im still learning..lol

Solved==== off a tooth or two maybe three...

Lesson learned===when putting on timing chain always go clockwise when aligning notches never go counter clockwise
