Hi All

I was going up the ramp the other night and try to trun of the OD switch. As soon as I hit the switch, the whole instrument panel light went off, but my headlights still work. I am wondering if there is a fuse within the dimmer circuit? or should I just check the dimmer relay?

Thanks:Bruce:

Have you checked the fuses inside the cabin? If it's anything like my 7th Gen then there's a fuse that controls the lights for the instrument gauge. If they all look fine, then it could possibly be a problem with the dimmer rheostat.

yes, there is a fuse that says "Gauges" and that fuse is fine. I am wondering if the circuit from the headlight switch by-passes the rheostat? Also, it is not only the instrument panel, the lights for the climate control (AC and blower ect) are off too. are there other fuses that controls this circuit?

As far as I know, the one labelled 'GAUGE' only controls the actually workings of the gauges and the oil light, check engine light etc, not the illumination for the back-light behind the gauge faces. There should also be another fuse (15-amp) located in the cabin fusebox labelled 'TAIL'. This controls the actual illumination of the instrument panel lights.

This is the diagram for the 7th Gen, but yours should be similar, if not the same:

Thank you Kiwi-Corolla, I found the 15Amp blown fuse. This should fix my problem ^__^
