HELP with misfire and cold start injector *Solved*!

I have had a misfire for a couple months now and I cant figure it out. Its been given a tune up with new spark plugs gapped at .031, new wires, cap, rotor, coil, o2 sensor, cleaned out the egr valve, replacced vacuum lines, and timed it. I still have the misfire. I am going to check my injectors now. I listened to them and number 2 sounds different than the rest. it doesnt seem to click as fast. Any ideas on this misfore?

Also when I was taking my manifold off, the cold start injector sprayed gas at me when I got the bolt loose. Is it supposed to do that? Any help is appreciated! Im about to pull my hair out!!!

The truck is an 86 22re Fuel injected non turbo.

Denso plugs, and o2? These trucks dont like anything else.
Could be a 100 different things.

EGR been checked? I had one of my injectors acting stupid, and found the ground wire was broke off inside the harness.
Mis at idle? all speeds? all the time?

Not denso plugs and o2 sensor. I have gone through a bunch of things trying to figure this one out. I got out my injectors and found that the plastic around the injector spray part was broken. That injector did sound different than the others. Ill get the injector tomorrow and if that doesnt fix it I will go with denso plugs and o2 sensor.

Well, it looks as if the new fuel injector did not do the trick. Looks like Ill buy a denso o2 sensor. Its a lot better priced than the Toyota sensor. They want 163 at the dealer here. Since when I unplug the o2 sensor the misfire goes away and the engine runs smooth. I am just wondering if there is another issue going on. I have no codes and the CEL is not on. I dont get it. :headbang::headbang::headbang:

OK, got the denso o2 sensor installed it and have the same problem. I also checked my AFM. Everything seems to check out there too. Is there a good check for the EGR? I wonder if that is the problem or one of 1000 things. I am getting frustrated pretty bad.

Heres the latest. I blcked off my EGR valve at the back of the EFI manifold and the misfire isnt there nearly as bad. I still get a puff every now and then but its only one puff at a time. Ill get a new EGR and throw it in there probably after I am off graveyards this week.

Found the solution

OK here is it. I fugured it out thanks to all the kind folks on Toyotanation.

It semed there was a small leak in the EGR valve. THe piston that goes upand down has a diaphragm on it and that is what was leaking. I guess it just wasnt leaking enough to throw a code yet.

Anyway, the truck idles good and runs good. So if there is a misfire in your truck and you cant figure out, check the EGR valve!!

Glad you found the problem. Really hard to point on the computer, but all suggestions will start with the easiest checks.
EGR problems dont usually throw codes, and putting it on the dyno sometimes is the only way to read the problems.
