Help with Timing

Hey all, Well... I figured out my problem I think, chances are that my timing is off by about 5 degrees or so...

Now my problem is, how do I change the Timing on the 94 1MZFE, i hear its not possible on the 95's though... How do I do it?!?!?

You can't change the ignition timing on a 1MZ-FE. 1MZ-FEs have DIS (distributorless ignition system).

The timing is determined by sensors (cam position and crank position) and controlled by the ECU.
then how did my timing get off in the first place? It also says in a manual I have, that the 94 1MZFE is the only one of the 1MZ's that can be adjusted...

How do you know its off?

Are you just assuming that its off?

Chiltons manual?

The ignition timing can be checked, but not adjusted. Theres no distributor that you can turn.

If you want to prove me wrong take a pic of your distributor and post it up.
I figured it was off due to my particular performance problem, seemed like retarded timing, but I was finally able to check it today and everything came out perfect. So now i'm stuck with a dillema... i have no clue whats wrong, kinda gettin pissed at my piss poor performance, my next guess is a faulty TPS, NAPA quoted me at 170$ for one, meaning toyota will probably quote me twice that. Gonna have to check junk yards I guess...
what is wrong exactly? is the check engine light on? what cause your leaving us in the dark
I posted before about this, but ill post again...

If anyone has any idea what the following symptoms may be... lemme know...

1. Hesitation/Stuttering as the RPM's are going up (wierd feeling every 1000rpm's or so)
2. Hits brick wall at 4k RPM's (which is right below where it shifts into 2nd)
3. Inability to go over 85 the majority of the time (cannot get it to 100 unless i hold down the pedal FOREVER)
4. When I first turn on the car in the morning, and floor it, it drives like a metro, but slower... then it wont shift past 4k rpm's so i have to put it into L Gear in order to get the rev's up.
5. Slightly rough idle due to Liquid ran Fan
6. Just overall Lack of power over entire power band except at around 5k rpm's (still slow then though)

I checked the following:
Compression Tested - Perfect
Cat - Gutted, still have problem
Cleaned Intake Manifold - No Effect
Vaccuum Leaks - None
No Check Engine Light
Checked Coils/Wires - Perfect
Spark plugs slightly worn - REPLACED
Tested MAF - Checked out OK
Checked Timing - Perfect
my car did that for a while by any chance have you changed the fuel filter?
Not sure when that was last done, me and my friend where thinkin about that... it was between that, MAF, and Throttle Position Sensor.
try that first it sounds like your car is starving. mine had the same problem so i figured that was it and ...it was:lol: :hammer:
try resetting the ecu by pulling hte fuses
4. When I first turn on the car in the morning, and floor it, it drives like a metro, but slower... then it wont shift past 4k rpm's so i have to put it into L Gear in order to get the rev's up

you need to let your car warm up when it gets cold overnight or you will damage parts

That is behavior by design, Toyota doesn't want you revving higher than 4k until the oil is warm and flowing well.
arite, just wondering on that, but it still takes FOREVER to get to that 4000rpm's... seriously, there are few cars that feel this slow, i'd start up my corsica in the morning, and ZOOOOOOM... that thing would fly... and wake up the whole neighborhood at the same time... lmao

I unplugged the battery and put that back in, i also did the fuze thing, did nothin
Still no Luck

Well, it was suggested to replace the Fuel Filter... well, no luck, I replaced it with one from NAPA, and all that happened was that it started a bit quicker... So if anyone has any other ideas, i'd be happy to hear them

i dunno man, like you suggested youself in the first post, it sounds kinda like a trottle position sensor.

mine in my 91 camry died a while back, i was getting very similar problems.

the haynes manual has a testing procedure for it, id give it a shot. your sensor is a bit more than mine, I cost me $90 for mine
one from napa i was quoted at $170, im sure toyota will be 2x as much, but, I'm gonna try the junk yard first, cause it'll cost $7 there... my buddy got a 190$ knock sensor for his Turbo Supra for $5...

OR if anyone is willin to hook me up with one, that'd be wonderful
