salvaged titled...?

and he still wants 7.5k...?

yea, i dunno about that. what kinda theft would give a car a salvaged title... an mr2 w/ nothing in it is still worth something.
can be from theft. and hes including a carfax report
and obviously ill talk down the price

get the carfax report first.

a salvaged title is hard to work w/... if its already passed its "recovery inspection" and has been registered since then...

i guess its ok... but keep in mind for resale purposes. if you ever wanna sell the car. a salvaged title is not a good bargining piece.
dude i was planning to have the car till i die. if possible. i wasnt planning to resell it. idk he seems pretty honest. i was thinking like ask him to sell it for 6k or 6500 . but i mean its in pretty good condition. and its not like it was in a car accident.
i called the guy. he said that the dash is black and the door pannels/seats/ everything but the dash is blue. cuz everything else got stollen so he replaced the other stuff with blue color. is it hard to find black interior incase i was thinking about replacing the blue interior with black.? is it expensive?
IDK man

I can see the obvious reasons why you would want this one. But the more u say about the car the more skeptical I would be about getting it. Who in the hell would replace nice black interior (even if it was stolen) with ugly ass blue? Salvage title is scary in every way shape and form. But if u are planning on buying it for sure, bring it to a toyota dealership, pay the 300 dollars for the total inspection for purchasing the car. The person who is selling it should be more than willing to do this, and of course do the carfax report. Interior can be very expensive....... Carpet alone direct from toyota with JUT will cost probably 4 - $500.00......
It is a nice looking car with all the new paint and slight bodykit. and has an apexi avcr boost controller. I hate my boosy controller, even though it looks kewl, it is waaaaay too complicated for something that should be so simple to adjust and use. The new paint is also another reason I would be hesitant on the purchase. But pay good money on inspections if u are planning on keeping this car for a long time. Where do u live? Also why does it have remote startup.... It is a 5- speed, and it is never recommended that u have auto startup on a manual tranny.

i plan to do the same... you kinda gotta buy it piece by piece unless you can find a totalled mr2 somewhere and get that and strip it.
ok heres the scoop
an accident or theft was never reported to carfax, however it does show that the vehicle has been listed as salvage since 99. the car has changed owners about 8 times not including the current owner as the last record is that it was sold at a salvage auction in CA. the last reported date was 10,20,2005 and the car has not been registered since.
my suggestion, if your at all still interested in the car, is to pay for an inspection at a toyota dealership. the car has been modified, and i guarantee its been raced/pushed hard.

the car was reg. in CA, and WA, i can list all the cities, but i doubt its important. and it does not qualify for the carfax guarantee. I had to call him to get the VIN as well, did not ask him anything else though :p

well thats that

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fot that amount of money, u could fly somewhere, and buy 1 that is just as nice, or nicer, and be just as happy. I know u have your heart set on it. But it isn't what u really want for a car that u plan on keeping forever.
my fmily friend guy said he would inspect the car for me for free. so should i ask the seller in san francisco if i can get it inspected first?
yes

but I would also take it to toyoya, because if they are worng, they have to fix problems cause og there errors, I think.
neverm,ind. its non turbo
should i just call the guy with the salvage title car and ask if i can get the car inspected first before i buy it.?
ok i think i know what im gonna do., i might buy the one from me mechanick. the realy good condition mr2 n/a. then either swap it or buy another mr2 turbo later on. this way i know that im getting a good deal on the car because i can trust my mechanic.

IMHO your best bet would be to purchase a turbo model and stick some money into it. The salvage title car doesn't sound too good, and even though the N/A car might seem appealing, it will cost u a fortune to turbo it.There are quite a few MR2's in your local area that u can purchase.... but patience is the key when u go to purchase a rare car that is in good shape.
The swap isn't a bad idea at all. Get the car for $4k buy a gen2(200-225hp) for $1500 or a gen3(245hp) $2500-$3500. I got my gen3 clip at 38k miles for $2850 shipped to my door! Total cost would net you $6500-$7500. That dude's car is pretty much stock and is only 200hp(USDM). Now figure you get a Gen3...you now have 245hp in a 300lb lighter car than a turbo model. Boost it up to 15psi with a MBC($10-$50), intake, exhaust, intercooler and theres 50-75 more hp ending in a total of 295hp-320hp which in turn would net you 252hp-268hp to the wheels. Thats enough to smoke alot of cars...even some modded evos and sti's. Slap on a few more mods like a turbo kit and fuel upgrades and you can wrestle vettes to the ground.

Now finding a turbo model is hard to find under $7500. Even if you do find one its either requiring extensive modification and/or rebuilding engine components and prolly has at least 80-120k on the clock. People are starting to catch on the demand of our cars and they are taking advantage of it. You can expect a pristine condition turbo model in the high $9k-$15k range and the NA's in the high $7-$10k range.

You do the math....but I say go with the $4k NA in great condition and swap it for a JDM 3sgte or a USDM 3sgte and slap a whole bunch of mods onto it cause you can usually find a USDM 3sgte for cheap.
