Ok I have a bit of a problem. It's just more of an annoyance than anything else. But when I have the heat out put dial all the way in the red I hear a high pitched noise coming from the fan. It does go away if I turn the heat down about 3 clicks. It makes the noise on all fan speeds except the highest speed (which is probably loud enough to cover up the sound anyway). I live in Canada so having the heat on high is pretty much a necessity. Is there some sort of quick fix for this problem?
Has anyone else encountered this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

I know that if I were a dealer I'd first ask you if it is putting out heat. If you said yes, then I'd tell you that the sound is normal. IF it were me, i'd get out the wrench and the can of WD40.

Sadly, I have noticed this and I'm going to give you the "it's normal" response.

I don't know enough about the HVAC system in these trucks to pinpoint that noise to one thing or the other. It sounds like a solenoid, a coil or something vibrating. Almost like a sound you would hear from an electric stove top heating up. I honestly have no idea.

I typically only click it up to high heat for a short period of time. The truck warms up pretty fast and then I have the fan set on one or two and the temp. at about 3 o'clock on the dial.

I doubt you'll get the dealership to do anything, unless your noise is significantly louder than what I'm experiencing. I just turn up the radio a little bit more and try to not let it get to me.

:dunno:

is it the motor that's making noise? ie does the noise change according to the blower speed? if so then it's probably not a solenoid. my blower motor was chirping and making noise. took it to toyota, they argued but i made them fix it. new blower motor assembly and all is well.
