... http://www.runningboardwarehouse.com that sell for $259 shipped. They would be the black ABS/Polymer/Plastic style ones.

I ordered a set and when I went to install them yesterday they do not fit. The bracket kit they sent was correct( it is a Westin kit and Westin makes their boards )or at least appears to be as it mounts okay BUT the running boards themselves just are not right. They are too tall from what I see and just won't mount up. Guesss they are using a universal running board with the custom bracket kit but it does not fit. Figures as this kind of stuff always happens to me. :sosad:

Have talked with the owner of the company and I guess they are going to go out and borrow a Tacoma and try the install themselves to see what is wrong and to try and find out what boards will fit. You would THINK that this would have been done BEFORE selling them to people. So, if you were considering a set of these wait until this is solved so you don't go through this hassle like I am. The running boards are nice quality and all, and $259 shipped is very reasonable, but neither does a bit of good if they don't fit. :thumbdown

I am mechanically inclined and this is a very simple install so it isn't me. I tried every possible way to mount them from swapping brackets and boards from side to side and even mounting the brackets to the frame first and then to the boards first and it is just a no go. I suggested maybe the running boards shipped were wrong but I was told they were all the same just different lengths depending on vehicle so guess it isn't that I got the wrong ones.

So I have to wait up to 3 days while they try and figure out what is up( they refused a refund until they do which infuriates me ). So, that means the truck will continue to get chipped while they try and do something that should have already been done. I also STILL have not heard anything from Toyota about the rep coming out and tomorrow makes it a month since I went to the dealer about it and the request for a rep was made.

What next?

NOTE - this is not meant to slam RBW or to tell you not to buy there. Good price and a quality product. I am just trying to save people the hassle I now face. Once the correct parts are put together to actually fit the truck it is a great deal. I am not happy that they won't just refund my money and I am not happy this happened period, which it should not have, but I guess crap happens.

Just go with the Toyota running boards. I got mine from toyotapart.com. The pattern on them matches the pattern on the rim of the bed and the plastic steps on the rear bumper, so they coordinate with the truck's overall look. And they work--I haven't had any chipping since I got them.

Well, it was $259 for the RBW/Westin ones vs $360 for the Toyota ones so I went with the less expensive ones( which btw look just like the Toyota ones ). Unfortunately the homework was not done on the part of those selling them. Had it been, and they actually fit, it was a good deal. Now I am also dealing with a company that won't refund my purchase at this time so I am kind of forced to wait on this.

$280 from my dealer for the OEM ones, just had to take in a print out from the internet and they matched the price.

I posted on your question about factory running boards many months back. I told you that I got a set of them from the dealer for $280 out the door with no problems. Took me less than 30 min to install . perfect fit.

I'm starting to wonder if you just might have a curse over your truck...

I have 4 dealers within an hours drive and NOT ONE will sell the RB's for less then $360. Tried the price match approach but not one will go for it.

The westin instructions that come with kit is not always right..It does mount up with some figuring out though..lol...Had a great time doing mine.but looks great..
Well, if you put the same kit on your DC that I got for mine then my hat is off to you. There is just no way this kit will work. The boards just are too tall to use with these brackets.
