So i'm driving on 95N headed home after work. I was in the middle lane in rush hour traffic doing about 80. Next thing I know the tire blows like a fuckin bomb. The tread came off and shot across the road, and the tire ripped on the sidewall. The car swerved so hard i almost slid under an 18 wheeler:eek:. I managed to pull off and and throw the spare on. Of course I had to pull my big ass speaker box out to get to it which ws a bitch to unscrew. I threw the spare on and it was damn near flat, which was a great experience riding on for another 20 miles. My dumbass will never buy bullshit tires again (Firestone). Never ever buy Firestone....So that's two near death experiences in 2 months (2 blowouts). I'm on a roll. Anyone else come close to death on the road?

Yeah it's gotta jsut be you, I've got treadless old firestones, one with a plug the size of some ..you know..it's huge and another tire with a broken belt inside so it's an s-shaped tire, I drove to Guelph on it..which is like 5 hours from me of 130+km/h and nothing blew. I didn't know at the time the belt was broken in the one tire though. Now I'm riding on my winter tires again for safety sakes, on bakroads at the speedlimit as to not cause danger to anyone from my tires overheating and exploding too! :)

Glad to hear you're alright though.

ive never blown a tire but i almost killed my car.... i had pretty bald tires and this monte carlo was a lil bitch the road was slightly damp and the bitch tried to pass me and me being me matched speeds with him so he had to back down but by that time i was doing 80-90 with and upcoming corner (fresh pavement) i hit the corner way too fast and my bald ass rear tires cut out sending me in a slide me having no experience didnt know what to do other then to turn the oposite direction wiping me that way until finnally causing me to come to a stop this was also the most embarrasing moment because the **** in the monte carlo busted out laughing when they drove by

on the way back after watching this honda civic race this kid decides to do a lil fly by and he said he was doing about 100 and once again we had a lil sprinkle of rain that night and just a slight corner hardly a turn but at that speed he hit his brakes while turning causing the rear to spin out on him lol he nearly shit his pants when he came back everyone was like holly poo

no toyotas were harmed in this story so you can all can relax now

Not too long ago, the LT265/75R16E Firestone Steeltex tyre on the driver's side rear of my father's '01 F-350 suffered a tread separation at 75 mph (120 km/h). Caused US$2000 worth of damage to the truck... These were properly inflated tyres that came on the truck when new, and still had 6/32" of tread left... We went through our insurance company, and they got the money from Firestone to fix the truck.

Well i don't used others tires pefore so i don't really know...
My 1st choice is Michellin... Any made was ok though...
At least I hit a road divider about 6 inches height when i was speeding 90-120 km/h :hititsign , the tire still was in good condition...
All i have is a broken sport rim, axles bended and absober spoil.
I still manage to use that tire after changing rims, er... until it gone bald...
I trust michellin well after that case...

i use just about what ever i can get my hands on i still don't trust firestone (unless they have a really good deal which they've yet to have) i've bought tires from junkyards and used those for a year(you'd be amazed on what you can buy) i got a set of dunlops for 40usd (a set of 4) they were great.

Firestone has had recalls on a few of their models lately.. you should check on that, maybe yours were recalled. Remember the big Ford-Firestone thing on the news last year?? Explorers that came with Firestones were causing accidents cause the tires kept blowing up on the highway. Look into it, maybe you'll get a new set of tires out of it.. 2 blowouts in 2 months is something to complain about. :)
