That's to use the starter's power to help loosen the crank bolt. I prefer to use the home-made tools so you can torque the crank bolt correctly.

LOL good find! It's great to see these ingenious solutions! That's what Toyota should have stocked the dealer service departments with so they can reduce the prices.
