im about to build my own CAI and i need some guidence...what parts are needed and how much does it cost?...what difference does it make by having this?...thanks appreciate your help

You need piping (i think 2.5" to 3") (pvc pipes also work), mandrel bent 90 degree bend, Rubber hosing and clamps, and you have to buy a filter.

Depending how good you want it to look, it can cost like 40$-100+ (US dollars).

what difference does it make by having this?

You will get a noise which some ppl find obnoxious but other ppl relaly like. You could also feel a bit of a power increase.
But keep in mind, If u plan on getting turbo or a supercharger, you will have to take ur CAI off...

you are going to notice a difference in horsepower up top(near yer hp peak) but i personally don't think it's worth it. im a fan of the short ram becuase i like torque.

i heard that these piping can be found at home depot? sounds ridiculous, but is that true?...sound? so will my engine sound a little better?

can i make a short ram? cuz i think i can use more torque

Yes, You can get PVC piping (its like plastic, not metal but it won't melt so dun worry)
Your engine will sound better based on ur preferences. As i said, some ppl find it obnoxious...See if u can find some vids/sound clips of what it sounds like.

i read somewhere that the pvc can't stand the heat in the engine compartment and melts while giving off toxic fumes... i would just stick to the metal... dot dot dot

you can get the mandrel bent steel piping from a carparts store, they might have to order it, but it'll work best. I recomend 3" diameter piping. u'll need 3- 90 degree bends, 2- connectors, 1- reducer, 1-filter, and enough pipe clamps for all your connections to make a CAI. IMO, PVC looks really bad under the hood....

go to homedepot and get the air ducting. its used for airconditioning and heating and stuff. thats what i used. the cool thing about this stuff is that it has sections that can turn. so you can bend them in any directions needed. get 3" piping. its really not that hard to make it.

PVC = poly vinyl chloride or something like that. Anyways its a form of plastic.

Short ram = filter under the hood.

Cold air intake = filter in the fender.

No you don't.

The end of the cai will just be connected to the compressor inlet of the turbo or supercharger.

^oh, I just learned somethin. Thanks for the info.

I've always heard that you shouldn't get one if u plan on getting turbo/supercharger you'll have to take it off.

You like torque? Then why do you have a short-ram?

HKS High-Flow Filter tested on a 95' Supra TT got 8hp and -1.4tq. Hmmm..... Let's think about that. And that's a $220.00 intake. And HKS is one of the highest quality companies. hhhmmmm...

A Racing Beat High-Flow Intake tested on a 91' Mazda Miata brought 2.5hp and 1.6tq. I know I wouldn't pay $170 for that.

And in every test, the low-end never changed. They only cause change in the very high end of your power band.
