I have a 88 corolla sr5 with a 4a-f and I was wondering about something. If I ducted a fan into the intake for the carb how would this effect my performance and in what ways could it hurt my car if any. Just wondering because someone told me it was a bad idea. Just wondering. Any advice would be helpful.

It is a bad idea, because not only are you getting hot air from the radiatior fan, you are depriving the engine of much needed cooling, especially when idling.

why dont you hook up a leafe blower to your carb or efi? some of them blow at 250km/h!
'I think that was how much'

Good idea guys now im gonna hop out of my car at the light, pop the hood then pull start the leaf blower on my carb. Lol...that's some funny shit. Hate to break it to you but a 4af engine isnt worth the time...

Theres a solution to that one... have a pull cord in the car next to your hood latch

Yeah, instead of worrying about my performance I need a new fender because a f*cking deer ran into my car.

Guys take it from someone into R/C flight. Electric turbo/supercharging will never work never ever ever and 640kb or ram is enough for everyone.

The most powerful thing you're going to get electric would be a two motor 4" ducted fan setup, stepping down to the intake manifold.

1) A car battery wouldn't support it. Period...
2) You STILL wouldn't move enough air to do some good.
The age old addage is that it takes 15hp to turn a supercharger making hp. The most powerful setup in EDF (electric ducted fans) only puts down about 7hp worth of power. (745watt = 1hp)
3) We have not started to talk about the poor design of the ducted fan blades, for pushing air into an engine, it's inefficient to begin with
4) you can't stack them, as every time you do that, you loose 75% efficiency on subsequent fan setups.
