My friends dad is looking at the new '06 pilots..........
It seems to be a pretty cool car and a lot of options come standard.

So, you guys think he should get it or should he also look at something else.

And the qualifications are:
-It has to hold at least 7 people but 8 would be best.
-Pretty Decent Gas milage.
-Price really doesn't matter
-Must be pretty safe

Thanks,
-Jimmy

I would post this in the SUV forum, but it seems to not get any traffic....

I don't think you can go wrong with a Pilot...

Toyota-wise, the competition is the Highlander, which is just a tad too far on the boring side, for me.

Trust me the Pilot drives like a car and its no fun to drive:disappoin. For me I would go with the 4Runner.

Well, the Highlander is the car-based SUV... and so is the Pilot. The 4Runner is a little more hardcore. That's how I see it.

Does the 4Runner seat 7?

He should go for a Highlander, or the new Rav4.
The ravs are tiny.
And the thing about the highlander is it gets worse milage, and they don't seem to have as many features....

Pilot all the way

I'd also recommend waiting until 2006 to try the new 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Seats 7, and it's entirely redesigned. There's some great pictures of the model on carspyshots.net.
I doubt he'd ever buy a hyundai. After one of his friend's engine fell out of their Hyundai.......:ugh3:

Id go with a 4Runner. If you are going to get an SUV, at least get a real one. Not a car-based wannabe.
Ive owned 4Runners in the past and they are awsome. They will go anywhere you need to go and they ride and handle like a car.

I ahve to say go with the Pilot. THe third seat in the Highalnder is a joke, not that the Pilot is that much better but it is better. The third seat in the highlande is only designed for 2 people so if he had to carry eight it would not work. Yes the pilot is car based but it is a very capable SUV. IT does give you the option of locking the transfer case into a high full 4WD where the Highlander does not. It is AWD all the time with no contorl over it.
I also think towing capacity is a little bit higher in the Pilot than inthe Highlander.

As for the 4RUnner, have you seen the third seat in those things. They are like the seats in the Landcruiser. they fold up towards the rear side windows when not in use. The to will only seat two additional people since there is a gap in between them when they are lowered. Also if you sit in the abck seat your knees are going to be in your chest no matter how tall you are. I have been in one and I am only about 5'10" and it was the absolute worse thing I had ever sat in as far as comfort. If you have to make an adult sit back there for more than about 15 minutes they are probably going to kill you when they get out.

If he likes the pilot but wants a little more luxury he could also go to the MDX. wood trim, sunroof, better stereo, and a little bit of a HP bump over the Pilot. Also I think they look a little better jsut not so upright and tall looking.

Isn't that kind of a descrepancy?

I'm diggin the 4 runners, but it seems as though they don't seem to have as many features and what not as the pilot...

The pilot seems to have cooler standard features such as leather and Tv, nav system...

So it's kind of a up for grabs decision, but its leaning torwards the pilot....

Edit: So is the space really bad as Cyorke says?

Thanks, Extremely informative.

Are those extra options pretty good too? Or are they just made to sound really good.

Honda's are nice looking cars but they are not as refined as toyotas... they feel cheap for some reason.
