Honda recalls more than 150,000 vehicles in U.S.

Reuters / June 09, 2004

DETROIT -- Honda Motor Co. Ltd. is recalling more than 150,000 vehicles due to problems with airbags and interior lights, federal safety regulators said Wednesday.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said potentially incorrect inflation rates in the driver's side front airbag prompted Honda to recall 130,617 compact CR-V SUVs from the 2002 to 2004 model years.

Separately, it said Honda was recalling 19,572 Accord sedans because the dimmer control for their instrument panel lights can fail due to heat buildup.

If the condition occurs drivers of the Accords affected, from the 2000 to 2001 model years, may be unable to see instrument panel gauges, such as the speedometer at night.
