Last Sunday I took the wife and daughter up to the local mtns in pursuit of some snow fun. Little snow and lots of rain and wind, and I mean wind like I have only experienced in a tropical storm in Guam along time ago. We were getting gusts of wind so strong that if I had stopped and got out it would of blown me off my feet and into the trees. I slowed down to 5mph hoping it would not blow the truck over, all the while telling my wife and daughter not to worry, the truck is to heavy to roll with just the wind pushing on it. Then I noticed my hood is flexing like crazy, the wind is blowing down and across on it, then it pops open to the safety catch. I lucked out and found a little dirt road to get off on which was covered by large pine trees. I got out and closed the hood and started crawling down the mtn. Has anyone else had anything like that happen? I guess the wind blew so hard that it caused the release to open the hood. Also, I think the truck is fairly solid on the road, not as prone to roll as say a van obviously, because the wind can go under the truck, and over the bed with only the cab sticking up high. Next time I am in a storm like that I wish I had an anchor to throw out!

Thats crazy man. Happy there isn't any damage. Wonder if the custom grill had any part in it....

I know that the hood was closed good, it wasn't even opened for the last two weeks, since I changed the oil last. I am not sure, the custom grill may have played a part in it doing that, it has less space for the air to escape.
I saw the hood flexing and bending all over the place, it was crazy as a rabid fox. I am so glad, I checked it all out at home, just some pine tree needles in the engine compartment, but everything else is fine. Good thing that the hood only opens far enough to get your finger in there to release it, so not much of a gap to allow the wind to get a hold of it. As far as going 125mph, are you serious? I never had my truck over 120mph!:naughty:
