Im building kick panels for some car audio stuff. The speaker would be firing directly into the E-brake foot pedal.

This leaves me with two options.
1.remove ebrake completely or just cut it short. There are two bolts that I can see. I loosened them just to see if I got any wiggle but to no avail.

2. Remove ebrake cable and depress brake completely so its always out of the way but then I have the red lettered brake light always on.

So questions.

How do I remove the brake foot pedal? It seems to be rather involved and I cant figure out how to do it by looking at it.

Or is there a way to turn off the brake light without disabling any other lights/features. There is a simple green wire that you can disconnect that is the ebrake sense. Does disconnecting this do anything to other systems?

I assume you are talking about a 1992-1996 V6 model Camry since they came with the foot brake. 1992-1996 SE V6 had the hand brake option.

Removing the ebrake/disable it to retrofit audio is not advised if you are trying to keep the car legal (providing you need to get it inspected). Your best bet is to retrofit the V6 foot brake to a more common hand brake found in the I4 1992-1996 or the V6 SE trim.

I think it has been done, but I do not know what is involved.

the 3-brake pedal isn't that big. i can't see where it will block enough sound to cause some much concern/re-engineering.

I'm thinking it's going to be a speaker pod attaches to the lower kick panel.

It's not so much to make you deaf, but more of a better balance and sound imaging. Not sure what the speaker on the foot levels going to do, but I can see the differences on the pillars above the dash. The Gen3 didnt have the best placement of the tweeter in the door handle, it was a little too low in my opinion but it does work good enough.

How many amps are you running to run all this stuff?

There are pre-made speaker kick panel enclosures already. Of course, they cost money lol.

Not sure if they stock it but it says it's available. Doesn't mention anything about e-brake removal but I could only assume it would be required.

The ES300 92-96 all came with the traditional hand brakes although for the Camry, the 92-96 V6 LE, XLE(exclude V6 SE, unsure if the V6 DELUXE trim had it) came with the unique foot brake. All 4 Cylinders had the traditional setup. Toyota drop the foot brake for the Camry from 97-01 regardless of trim or engine.

I can't find anything about the foot brake to hand brake conversion but I can assume it can be done.

Ive got 3 amps. 7 speakers and an external dsp. Trust me. I know what im doing here. Lowering the speakers increases path lengths and gives you a better stage and less reflections off hard surfaces. Verticle cues (music height) doesnt kick in till around 5khz. If you run midbass and midrange down lown and a tweeter at sail panel and higher. Balance out Interaural time difference and interaural intensity difference. You an get amazing sound quality stage.

To swap from foot brake to handle you need:

- lever assembly/handle complete including the plastic boot/shield under the handle
- cable #1 (attaches to handle)
- console

Everything from the equalizer back (left/right cables connect to this) is the same.

Nice job. I'd spend more time doing audio upgrades but its difficult to get good sound stage and imaging in a car with it being as stock OEM look as possible. Maybe when I got more money to do stuff like this I would haha.

Try the above advice from Corolla71. That might help you in getting rid of the foot brake and get the traditional handbrake. Junkyard will be your friend.

My fab skills are pretty damn rusty. The tweeter sails turned out badly because I didn't have any more poly resin left so I had to use all body filler and I have no idea how people get that stuff smooth
