be sure not to leave it in gear, they are known to keep it from starting and engage the starter while going down the road, the car is alot easier to steal with it and cell phones are known to start your car up but its rare, i think garage door openers are more common to mess with them, i wouldnt put one of those things on a toilet much less a car but its up to you

Not that difficult to install, but you really need a DVM to identify the wires at the ignition harness.
You may also be able to e-mail the product vendor and see if they can supply you with a wiring diagram (actually more of a wire color / location guide) specific for hooking up a remote start unit. I've got one I took out of my last car but haven't put in in my Camry yet.

Fred, these things are safe. I've been using them for about 10 years and on about 8 different cars with no problem. I've done all the installations and removals myself (about 3 or 4 units) The ones specifically for manual transmissions have safety built into them that would make it virtually impossible to start it in gear. There's a whole setting ritual to go thru in order to set it for remote starting. And if the door gets opened it loses it's ability to be remotely started, until you go thru the setting procedure again. It's a real pain for a manual tranny car, but still worth it, especially in cold climates.
Car easier to steal? No, because it shuts the car off when you step on the brake without the key in place and turned to the on position. Never heard of one getting started by a cell phone or garage door opener, but I suppose anything is possible.

ive seen them freak out, i like when they stick and keep the starter engaged, when they first came out they didnt have all these safety checks and they were really a trip

Do they make them for 5 speeds?
You bet! I put one on my old S-10 pickup. But you do have to get one specifically for a manual tranny. I've bought a few items from www.mypushcart.com They seem to be pretty good people to deal with.

You want the Ultra Start TL1250M model, which will run you around $75. If you have power locks you get the added bonus of hooking up your locks to the remote so you'll have a keyless entry as well as a remote starter.
