Its realy Simple

Pull all 4 spark plug wires, and then get a 30mm (i think its 30mm) soket and then pull off all 4 of those nuts you find under the plug wires skirts. (they screw onto the Plug Tubes) those 4 hold on the cover. once you get those off, you then need to purswade the cover to come off, (it takes some dextarity to get it around all the crap around it.) i actualy take the throtel cable linkage stuff off when i do it.

why do you want to get under there?
paint my cover!:D
Just leave the cover off, it will look cool.
godd idea!!!!! I <3 you lol i will post pix of it when i am done tonight!

They can be hard to pull, when I look them off my pro's Volvo, I just wiggled them and they eventually came off.
Sometimes you really have to tug on them biatches. Afterwards, I use a block of wood and a hammer to knock the cover loose.
Turn them about 30 degrees and try again
awesome thanx guys!!
how is the painting coming along?
Don't forget to use a new v/c gasket. That is if you want to avoid leaks.
lol its 11p.m and i think my engine has cooled down to get the plugs off so....tomorow morning i will be done lol!
progress?
I should be doing the same thing this weekend. I just wiggled my boots from side to side (dont tug on the wire) to get them off. Actually, I test fit a 32mm socket and it fit perfectly.

Do I really have to sand it down a bit before spraying it? Can I just clean it up? I already got the v/c gasket and valve stem seals.
Hey guys i am finished but my throttle doesn't open up all the way like it should.....i would say about 3/4 of the way...and i took the cable and stuff off to put my cover back on and everything worked out fine besides that.....anyone have an answer to my question on how to fix this>?!!!
I just did my valve cover. Haynes stated 29lbs of torque. I used my Craftsman torque wrench, but how do I know when to stop. I hear a click with the wrench, is that when I am supposed to stop tightening??

See less See more
yup the click and its supposed to "click off" so it shouldn't provided any more torque
i've got that wierd colored camry...not quite gray..not quite purple. pewter colored in certain lighting conditions. any ideas what would go good for the valve cover? i was just thinking maybe a high heat black because it would look simple and cleaner than the current color.

Tighten your throttle cable.

You just loosen the back nut and then tighten the front one a bit. I had my brother step on my pedal (with the car off) so it would pull it tight. I just made sure that I tightened it so it just started hitting the stopper, so when it's floored, it's at max.

Just remember, don't go crazy with it, otherwise you'll be flooring your car with the pedal 1/2 way down.
