What else do I need. it was a sale item at bestbuy so I bought it. I also have the stock stereo. What's an estimate of other stuff I need? What do i need actually. And how much do people get these installed for?

You'll need an amp wiring kit, and a line-out converter to add RCA outputs to your stock deck. Installation by a pro will probably run around $50. You could also ask around, a friend might know a friend who knows a friend who can set it up for you. If they don't know what a line-out converter is though or have never installed one, don't let them touch your stereo.

Personally, I wouldn't. Despite the fact, that $180 for an amp/2 subs NO MATTER HOW SHITTY is a good deal.

If you're doing this solely to conserve money, I suggest you hold off on getting a system...wait til you have about $800 to spare and get something that's somewhat decent.

well dont think those lightning audio are going to give you bass. Next time get a ED sub, or an adire, for less money and superb sound.

Neither did I.

And for $180??? You can't pair much with a Adire/ED/SI/RE/etc. sub and still keep it remotely close to that price figure.

Let the man do what he wants damn

Come on you guys if he only has 180 and he wants to get a pair of cheap subs to put in his car so he can rattle his trunk a little then let the man do his thing. If he wants to save up 800 and really get a great system then he can do that. but still even no lightening subs and god only knows what amp will do better than stock 6X9s or whatever is in the car now. If you want some advice just ask me man.

PS.. 800 for a system is a hell of a lot of $$$ man. I could build a system that would satisfy almost anyone for like 600 man. Just pick up a pair of fosgate 10's or 12's in a box or something similar for like 150/200. or even a edk or re or similar sub would be like 250 for a 12. THen an amp for like 150 would get you something that could easily push a single 12 or a pair of decent 12's. 100 to replace the stock little 5.25's or 4's or whatever you have. Another 100 for deck and your done. Then I'll throw you another 50 for wiring and stuff because wiring would be that much  and your done man. there you go

subs-150/200
+
amp- 150/200
+
deck-100
+
replace stock speakers - 100
=
500/600 depending on preference. That took a lot longer than I thought to make a point but still any pair of 12's and a decent amp will give better than stock

Thanks for the advice. I don't have enough money to put good systems in both of my cars. The WRX is getting a custom system job and the camry just needs some bass for kicks. Can't spend too much for the camry.

You guys spent a lot on systems.... Here's what I've spent so far:
$100 on head unit
$30 on 2 10inch Pioneer subs, don't know how good they are yet.
$100 on 1200 watt amp
previous owner put in 6x9 pioneer's, not sure of price.
Still need to buy sub box and wiring kit, total will be no more than 100 for those.
So like $350, but I got a real good deal on the subs, and I do my own wiring. I also don't want a super powerful system, just some decent bass.
Good luck with your system man.

I'll admit, Best Buy/Circuit City subs aren't too bad (Baja's and Lightning Audio). I had 2 12" Baja's as my first system, and it was damn good for $28/sub. Of course, I also had a $170 MTX amp. ;) I've listened to Lightning Audio and I was impressed by the sound for the price. As for my current setup:

$200 Pioneer CD player
$200 MTX amp
$200 on 2 MTX 6000 12's
$160 Kenwood front components
$40 sub box
---------------------------------------
$800, not all at once

First system cost me about $300, w/o CD player. Pick out what you like and go for it.
