I'm storing it in my garage for a few days until my rack comes in.
UT06, you may be ok doing that in TX, I guess.
I did that once, and it was a costly mistake. $500 later and a weekend of work, I had my garage fixed again. Lesson learned. I had only stored a box full of small pieces in the garage once to have something super dry to get the fire started. But there was some mold on it already (not visible), and within a couple of weeks that nasty stuff had spread to all of my shelfing. Had to replace all of it, and it was a royal pain in the rear end! Luckily I cought it before it had spread to any structures.
I'm in WA state, and it's wet here in winter. You are probably ok in TX, but I'd still get it out asap.

BTW, how are you cooking with it? We use it for our main heat as it's cheap (I get all the wood for free). My Taco has hauled a total of 3 cords in the last 2 weeks. It's a lot of work, but worth it IMO.

I'm keeping a close eye on it. I have it about 6" away from the wall (that's painted). I'm more worried about bugs than mold but thanks for the heads up.

I use it in my offset smoker to cook briskets. yum
