Hi,

I'm trying to find a new starter motor for my '01 Corolla and when I called around for parts, I was asked if the car comes with cold package/option?

Is there a way I could find it?

I live in LA, if that makes a difference in choosing a part.

I'd appreciate any comments on this issue.

Thanks.

!st try a different parts store, I dont see how that could have any thing to do with the starter. but the car would have a block heater plug some where I would think . If all else fails call the dealer have them run the vin# You could always pull the starter take it to get tested and match one up if its bad! good luck!

The cold weather ones have a physically bigger motor. However they both appear to bolt on the same and use the same electrical connections. Since you are from L.A. I would assume your car does not have a cold weather package unless is was originally sold in Chicago or something.

I just buy the bigger~ one, they cost about the same.

Btw, Toyota dealers have a kit that replaces whats usually worn out, without buying a new one. Some of the parts you buy at parts stores won't last as long as an original with new brushes.
