Hey everyone.

I've had my 1999 Avalon for a few years now and the rear left door was replaced or repaired at one point. The locking mechanism for the door seems to work backwards compared to everything else. Locking the doors with the remote or with the switch in the car will unlock this door, and unlocking will lock it. Is there a reprogramming method I could do to fix it? Or is it as simple as crossed wires somewhere in the locking mechanism?

That door also hangs oddly and has to be slammed to lock..It has a few issues but the locking mechanism is more of an issue.

Thanks.

I would take the door panel off and look. I don't know how things are hooked up but I suspect some of the linkage has been hooked up backwards more than a wire. It would explain both of the issues.
Yeah, actually taking the panel off is probably the best way to diagnose. I was hoping I could just reprogram it magically but guess I'll have to actually put some effort and look into the problem! I'll give that a shot on a warmer day and see what I can find.
