I had a similar problem of not being able to see the very cleverly camouflaged switch on the reading light on my RAV4 (in the dark). I bought glow-in-the dark sticky-backed vinyl sheet on eBay for about 3 bucks, cut it to size, and stuck it on the switch button. No more problem. :D

Thanks jzack,
This was just the project I was lookingv for, I am always looking for something to do with my Highlander 2002. I did this last night took about 2.5 hours and it looks awesome. I got evrything I need at Radio Shack. I had to use slightly high k resaistors couldn't find the exact k you used but still bareley noticable at night. Note My 2002 wiring was slightyly different the ground was the same but the +12v switched was a different wire. I love the mod and plan on doing the passenger and both rear. Here are some pics I just took, forogot to take some last night but me and my buddys were too busy looking at how factory they look. Thanks again for the idea . I will post some pics tonight in the dark. By the way jzack feel free to post my pics over at tundrasolutions I am not a member.

Well good to hear it worked out for you!!!

Don't shoot me but after I did my project, I realized this could have been done using a different type of LED. They make colored LEDs that have frosted (white) plastic domes. That is, when LEDs are off they look like white frosted plastic domes -- but when illuminated they are red, green, whatever. Those frosted domed LEDs would have blended a little better with the trim panel - would have been less noticeable in daylight.

I know - not a big deal. Just pointing this option out to others who may decide to try it...

PS - If you can't find the frosted style -- get clear lense LEDs and use some fine grade sandpaper (600 grit?) before installation to make them frosty looking...

Yeah the shack had those but after I thought about it I sorta like the green and red, but definately an option. As promised here is a nightime pic of the my mod. As I said I am planning on doing the passenger side and the back. I may use the frosted for those. jzack where do you buy your LED's?
