How to Program your own transponder key??

Does anyone out there know the "real" way to Program your own transponder key?? I have a 2005 Tacoma with a Master Key and a Blank Cut key from the dealership and followed the directions on this link, and it did not work. I dont want to have to pay the "Stealership" for something I can do myself. Anyone?? Thanks in advance...

You might be able to find a locksmith, that has the programming machine to do it, cheaper. But most likely not, because the programmers cost several thousand bucks.
Thanks hokihigh, I will let you know how it goes...
No Go. Followed Directions to the tee, Twice, and the security light never went out and the truck would not start. Thanks anyway. Any other ideas?? There must be a Toyota Tech out there somewhere.
Sorry....
You need the scantool.

Hoof?
I guess the "Stealership" is going to get my money after all. I just ordered a Keyless Entry Remote FOB off of EBay, I hope it doesn't need a scan tool also. The guy I bought it from said it comes with free programming instructions...
eek I was going to try to buy my own blank transponder too. I really really don't want to pay the stealership.
ponq , I got mine from THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY STORE on EBay. I should have it in a day or so, I will let you know how it goes.
I guess i was wrong about the chip in the key, thats the way it is on Fords, locksmith must have a programmer gizmo.

However!! I have definitely experienced the Transponder dilemma, having bought one off e-bay for my 4Runner after the origional keyless entry fob had a trip too many thru the washing machine!

Yes they do come with programming instructions. They are much like the routine described in the earlier post. BUT, the timing is WAY, WAYYY more precise. I don't remember the exact combination but it was something like key on, press fob loc then open door then close door and then lock and unlock 10 times in ten seconds with the door button then yada yada yada yada till the end of the combo and THEN if the door slide button engages twice it means you fucked up, once you were succesful.

Do not attempt this while drinking! I consumed a six pack with no success and much angst, then spent the next morning for another hour till i got it.

Thanks, please do, I was also looking at purchasing one off of ebay.
I have feeling the instruction he's sending is the same in the pdf.

Even procedure of hokihigh's link is same as 98 Toyota procedure in the pdf. I guess you have tried both 98 and 02 Toyota procedure right?

Anyway, hope it will work out at the end
Just got my Keyless remote in the mail from THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY STORE for my 2005 Tacoma. The programming instructions were a little involved, but they worked great! I now a an extra working remote for my truck for only a little over $30. Much cheaper than my local Dealership wanted. Great Deal!

Can you share those instructions I am trying to program My second key and cannot seem to enable program mode.
Here is the best video I have found explaining Techstream software key programming

This looks great. Do you recommend a source for the software? I have a OBDII-USB cable from years ago, used successfully on my 04 and 05 Sienna uplinks for a general code reading/reset software.
