I don't think my tailgate was originally like this, but after someone rear-ended me some years ago, the body shop put a metal plate on it with a vinyl Toyota T-100 logo. Unfortunately, it keeps trying to peel off. I've used some tacky glue that was recommended to me but that didn't work out well. I've since been using some epoxy putty, but that also only works short term. What else should I try? Here's a picture of what I'm talking about (the black stuff on the right end of the metal plate is the epoxy putty that has failed).

I had to replace the black side molding on my DX and used 3m Spray 77 Adhesive. It's been a couple years ago already and so far so good. Clean both surfaces real well and scotch brite the tail gate so the glue as a rougher surface to grab.

I finally got around to doing it earlier this summer while I was putting on new license plates, and then finally got around to updating this thread. :) I ended up using Loctite Spray Adhesive, since that's what they had handy at the hardware store. It was a bit messy, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. Thanks again for the spray adhesive suggestion.
