!!DELETE!!

I lowered down my spare tire, but I can't remove the holding bracket from the cable.

I tried twisted the metal end on the other side of the tire, tried squeezing the white insert and pulling, but can't disconnnect the cable from the holding bracket to get access to my tire.

Any ideas?

Thanks

By the way, it is a 2000 Toyota Tacoma

EDIT: Nevermind! Just had to hit her a few times to get it loose then slide it through the hole!

I had to get out my manual to even be aware of how that thing comes down...

I don't think it comes apart. I think you just turn the metal thing sideways and slide it through the hole in the tire. Then you crank the empty assembly back up until it's tight. Ahh, I just read the end of your post.

If rust was holding that metal bracket to the tire, you better check the rest of the frame for rust. You're eligible for free undercoating if you act fast.
