How to verify SE?

1276 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Jim Griffin
For a recent 2010 Highlander SE purchase, my Toyota dealer switched vehicles at the last minute because the specific vehicle I had chosen didn't pass inspection. How can I confirm that the replacement is an SE? More specifically, how can I confirm that it has the towing prep package (e.g., is there a way to check for the 150-amp alternator or 240-watt fan coupling, where is the prewired harness, etc.)?

Thanks!

Im not sure about checking to see if you have SE or not, but checking for towing prep package is easy. If you look at the driver side fog light, when looking straight at the vehicle, there should be a hole to the direct left of the light. That hole should lead to a a radiator if you look into it. Also below the front bumper on the driver side below the fog light, you should see some slots in the plastic skidpad that also lead to that same radiator. If you have this you have the tow prep package.
The VIN number on the window sticker should agree with the VIN number on the vehicle. The window sticker will specifically list the model and all included options.
Your HL needs to have at least this equipment package to be an SE model:

17-in. alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, integrated fog lamps, black roof rails, rear glass hatch, moonroof, front/rear automatic climate control, leather-trimmed interior, AM/FM 6-disc in-dash CD changer and multi-function display with backup camera

The above is from the buyatoyota.com site.
