How would I know if I need new front coil springs?

I have a '99 Taco prerunner 2.7 liter. The passenger front bumper will bounce when I rock it. The driver side levels out nicely as it should. I just got a hold of a spring compressor and was going to replace both front shocks. Now I'm thinking what if my coils are kinda shot too. Any way to know for sure that the whole coilovers should be changed out?

Forgot to mention it has 153,000 miles on it and they are the original coilovers on it. Bought the truck new back in '99.

I have an 02 4X4 Tacoma and had the same problem your having. I went ahead and installed 4 new shocks and am glad I did. All 4 were leaking but the left front and right rear shocks were so bad it's a wonder they didnt collapse.
