They'll probably agree with his choice, like the ones on the Ford forums I've belonged to for the last 5+ years. Many of them are just as unhappy as I am with Ford.

It's looking like I'll be getting rid of my 97 Ranger to go to a Tacoma at some point too. Post up your likes/dislikes compared to the Ranger. Mine has been rock solid in the 120k miles I've put on it, but I just need something bigger w/o getting a gas guzzling 1/2 ton.

As someone who's owned a Ranger ('96) and many other Fords, I can assure you, there IS no comparison. The Tacoma has more power, better ride quality, is more comfortable, has more capacity in every way, and it goes on and on.

Welcome. Get ready for a night and day difference. If you had a v6 before the mileage is the same. I had two Rangers before the Tacoma. 96 I-4 2wd, dependable, but got stuck too many times, lame for towing. My 99 v6 4wd ext cab Offroad, the 4wd system fell apart at 60K, electrical probs, summer 04 it was at dealer 6 times. No more. My only issue after 38 months in the Tacoma is my clutch pedal sometimes squeaks.

You paid less than invoice out the door?
It's possible in a state with no sales tax / low registration fees, isn't it? I know that I paid sales tax and license, registartion fees (license / registration was only like $50).
If there would have been no sales tax, I would also have gotten the truck out the door for just under invoice if I remember correctly.

I don't really any major complaints about my 97 Ranger I have had many Rangers including and fully loaded 4x4's with Fords 4.0 SOHC which start in 01 while the 4.0 in ford is not bad. The Tacoma has more seat of the pants power. My 97 is a reg cab and is very small with the 3.slow v6 All and all its not a bad truck in only has 102k on the clock which is not to bad for the year. But it lacks towing capacity its a stick even with the tow package only rated to tow a max 2500. Like all others said most of the Ranger guys would more then likely trade up to a Tacoma when there time is rate unless they are really loyal. If an when ford something with the ranger I may revisit them but the major complaint is the ranger is for the most part unchanged since the mid 90's. only some face lifts one new power train and little shit on the dash. My 97 Dash is pretty much the same as my dad's 04 Dash just gauges in different location but the lines are still all the same.

Ok I paid 26071 OTD for my Taco, and I believe dealer cost on that was 26174 Not really to sure but its really close. I went to a fairly big dealer in Northern VA. I think I got a decent deal maybe not the best deal there is always somebody out there with a better deal.... The sticker Price on the truck was 28,608.

I’m going to try to take some pic’s.
