today i went to look at a motor to maybe drop in my 80 4x4 for the time being till i got my other motor done since it was a great deal on it. no i didnt get it but it is still available if i want it. im wondering if it is worth it though basically if that type of motor has any nut at all.
ok the motor info, its out of a 79 carolla, it looks to be about the same size as a 20r. but the intake is all different, and carb bolt up is also different, the bolts are spaced bigger. the other very different thing about it from my 20r was the spark plugs were in the top of the valve cover, thats about all i can think of to describe it at the moment hopefully its enough that you guru's here can tell me what it is and what kinda power it has

most likely a 2 or 3tc. there are plenty of performance parts out there for these motors so a swap in to your pickup may be a good idea. the only thing that concerns me is that you are going from 2.2liters to 1.6 or 1.8 liters, and that will seriously affect youre bottom end torque.

so its a lower power motor then? not really worth my time then i guess i can wait about a month till i get my other motor done, i was just wondering about that other one since i could have gotten it for $50. besides my newer block im working on is bored .30 over so it would definataly be a power drop. thanks for the info i appreciate it. btw is 2.2l the liters on a 20r? ive always wondered how many liters it was.any1 know what the stock hp is on 1, or the hp on a stock 22r block if there is any difference?

yeah, the 20r is a 2.2 and the 2 and 3tc's are 1.6 and 1.8 respectively, but they're also indestructible. i think the hp is about the same, but going to a smaller motor, u'll always lose low-end torque, no matter how totally sweet hte motor is.
