Its quite simple.
In Japan, they drive on the left side of the street. Because of this, the projector shield is designed a little differently. North American projector shields, which are designed for cars that drive on the right side of the street, are designed in a way that the cutoff is lower on the left side, and higher on the right, thereby not blinding opposing traffic, and still lighting more of the side of the road that you're driving on.
It is the opposite with the Japan projectors. If you put them in your car, you would be blinding opposing traffic really badly.

My advice-- For the money that you'd be spending for the headlights, the shipping, you're better off just doing a retrofit. You'll probably end up spending less money, and you'll probably get better ouput.
