 So i need to put my transmission back on to my 1990 corolla stationwagon. I took the flex plate off and i forgot which way it goes onto the engine. Can someone help me? One side shows the weld spots and the other side does not. Any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry for being such a newb.

Look to see what side had the bolts rubbing against it...or post some photos.

You won't see the bolt marks because of the spacer plate between the bolts and the flex plate (drive plate).

If my memory serves me right, the side with the recess in the center, goes toward the torque converter. The spacer plate fits into the recess.

I have never had one apart so I was giving my best uneducated guess...

...glad Donald knew something for ya.
Thank you very much. You were correct about the way the flex plate goes on. My corolla is up and running again.

If you can swap out your transmission and that's the only mistake you made,
you don't sound like a newb to me.
