ahhhh my old thread...

yeah i have a gen 5 camry sportivo 4cyl. i'm planning to get the springs and shocks. i've checked out eibach. seen their pro kit, pro damper and sport systems. the pro kit only drops the front 1.4 and the rear 1.1. why is the rear dropped less than the front?

i want around a 2" (5cm) drop.

the eibach sport system is a spring and damper set but i don't know how much it lowers the car.

so where could i find the kit i'm looking for? i'm after improved handling...

i'll have around AU$700 (~US$550) to spend on the springs and shocks excluding installation.

if it isnt lowered too much your stock setup should be fine. too low and you need camber adjustment and toe adjustment.

super cheap auto quoted me $79 for each king spring...front and rears are different...
they are KTFL-63 or 61s but how much do they lower the car?
i don't want more than 1.5 inches lower...or its gonna be kinda annoying for me...

if you don't want it too low get the eibach (aka TRD) springs and whatever shocks you want because they don't lower it more than 1.2 - 1.5" all around. first choice in shocks for me would be bilstein (also aka TRD) with the second choice being tokico (no reason, just .. they work). what size are your rims?

get the king springs, go to a local spring shop and get them to compress them. normal low height kings are usually a 1.5-2cm drop. scroll down the product list to the Super Low section see if theres anything there... its about a 3-4cm drop from them.

i don't think i want king springs...but at the moment i think the eibach pro kit springs seem the best...1.4/1.1 f/r

why is the rear only dropped 1.1 inch? does it have to do with helping acceleration by keeping the car balanced through corners and stuff?



after some thinking, 2 inch is a little too much and ~1.5 should be fine. if i lower my car 2 inches then i probably couldn't fit 2 fingers through the front fender.

after some browsing through the eibach website i found a link to an australian importer:

also i just thought about the different model camrys available in aust...the altise/ateva and sportivo.

the sportivo (my car) has lower springs than the altise, but when they say eibach springs drop the car 1.4/1.1 are they talking about the altise model? that means if i get eibach then the front of my car lowered would only be the difference between the sportivo's lowered springs and the 1.4/1.1 eibachs?

yes the drop wont be as much youre already lower then the stock camry ^^

why dont you want king springs? theres a reason that they outsell everyone else in australia, and its not price, because you can get apair of springs for like $60AUD direct from spring shops

hi my car is 2000 camry le and my rims are 17" and i just got my TRD lowering springs. you think should be ok? i mean when i turn it, i won't scratch the tire?

depends on how much springs lower your car...if you car stock has a 3 inch fender gap and you springs lower it 2 inches then you got 1 inch of clearance...and you should get stiffer shocks or else the car will bounce and you wheels will rub when turning.


yeah anyways i'm after improved handling too so thats why i want eibachs over king springs.well since the pro kit only lowers 1.4 front, what about eibach's other set of springs, the sportlines?

yeah the front is lower than the rear so the car handles better...if its even then it can upset the handling...

I installed the Eibach Pro-Kit on my 2002 (Gen 5) XLS I4. The drop is plenty, even more than I wanted. The rear seemed to drop a bit more than the quoted 1.1 inches as well. The car rides firm, even kinda harsh with the Pro-Kit and new replacement OEM shocks. If you're after handling your money is much better spent on the TRD rear sway bar and front strut tower brace. If you want improved looks, go up to 17"x7" wheels and mount 225/50ZR17 tires. If your ride still isn't way better then put on some stiff shocks, though for the Gen 5's you may have trouble finding anything other than the crappy KYB's. Lowering would be the last suspension mod I'd suggest doing on a gen 5.
