Icon CO not giving expected lift

So I bought the Icon extended travel COs and TC UCAs. I installed them over the weekend and was a little disappointed at the lift I got. Icon's instructions said that they are preadjusted at the factory for about 2" of lift. At the factory setting, I only had 1" lift. This is on a DC LB sport. I don't want to crank them to the max due to ride. Anybody else experience this?

As of now, I have 1 5/8" thread showing on the passenger side and have 1.5" Lift

The driver side is at 1.75" thread showing and I'm at 1.5" lift.

Icon says not to go over 2" thread showing. I'm disappointed that I spent the money to do it right and will have to crank the SH$% out of them to get maybe 3" lift and probably giving up my ride quality. Is it just me???

Just crank them up to give you 2.5" of lift and run it. It won't hurt anything. Might just be because you have a long bed DC?
Crank them to 2.5" and you will see the difference, i have kings cranked to 2.5" and man nice ride i have.
Icon told me it was okay to go over 2" of exposed threads. When I had mine on I had 2 1/4" on one side and 2" on the other. Those settings gave me about 2 3/4" of lift. I didn't like having to crank them so much either, I thought they should have come with a longer coil.
trdt44- So you had the Icons and went back to 5100s? What did you think of the ride set at 2.25"? I liked the ride Icons gave from the factory setting but think it's going to ride like a F-350 with them cranked up.

I actually loved the ride of the Icons, even cranked up that much. It was firmer than stock but would take big bumps like a champ. In my opinion the main reason that cranked up shocks feel like they ride stiffer is because of lack of down travel, your extended length version will help a lot.
I took my lift off because I was getting the dreaded vibration and I couldn't stand it. My 5100's are only set at .85" and do a good job of leveling the truck.
When I first got my Icons I was also disappointed that I had to crank them so much. Then I went over the FJ forum and saw that some guys had their Icon's cranked to 2.6" of exposed threads (same coilover with different valving).
Thanks for good info. I'll give it a try and see what happens. I wonder if vibes are more common in the Short box or the LB or both. I'm trying to dial in my final setting before getting my alignment. Not sure if that makes any sense or not.

There is no rhyme or reason to the vibes, a few get it and most don't. I changed my setup so much that I invested in a lifetime alignment from Firestone, it was money well spent.

Go ahead and crank them up, the feel in ride quality difference is minimal, just keep in mind about your cv angles if ur 4x4.
I may have to crank them up a little or wait for my new dakars to settle in the rear cuz I got a bunch of lift in the rear now.

And just let me tell you how much they are worth the money you paid for them! They are incredible offroad for mid-travel.

Here's my long bed:

I have my ICON's cranked to 3" of lift and don't think they ride bad at all. Of course the ride is a little stiff but like trdt44 said it takes bumps like a champ. I had a 3' RevTek lift in prior to the ICON's and that lift rode like crap. Here is a pic of mine cranked to 3" of lift. Also 4 revolutions equals 1/2" of lift.

Ya, I cranked them so I have 2" of thread showing. That put me at almost 2.5" of lift. I really couldn't tell much difference in the ride between 1.5" thread showing vs 2" thread. Seems to ride great. Think that is as high as I'm going to go for now. Thanks for all the good info!
can they be cranked while they are on the truck (like my motorcycle shock)??

Yes they can, just jack up the truck to take the pressure off of the A arms.
