Belt molding. The molding will likely have to be replaced as an assembly. That rear alignment point is typically made on to the part.

OR

Double sided tape (3M) would probably hold it fine.

Thanks for the information. I noticed the piece seems to slide under the mirror, but I haven't pulled it all the way out yet. Could it possibly be as simple as sliding the new one in and pushing in the clip? I found this on eBay with a diagram. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331418969025?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I may just pick up some take like you said and forget the whole thing.

Some belt moldings can be slipped under the mirror, and are held in place by a series of clips that clip into the top of the door. Some require you to remove the mirror to remove and install. Not 100% sure on your car.

3M double sided tape trimmed to the right size will work. Never have had any luck with generic brands.
