OK, I'm brand new to the whole scene and I am doing as much research and learning as I can to get my new toy rolling.
Last month I bought an 89 Corolla GT-S Coupe (paid only $1000) and I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any places I can go to get ANY info on the car....I keep seeing people throw around AE86 and AE92.....my car says AE98? Whats the difference.....where can I find this info.....PLEASE HELP A NEWBIE!!!

If anyone out there has any ideas for where I can go online, in the world or where-ever to find out all I can I would appreciate it...

^ first of all, welcome

the AE98 is actually off your V.I.N, but on you chassis right in front of your fire wall, it'll say AE92.

goto www.ae92gts.com , Carl is the web master thee, and he has TONS of tip and other great info on that site. or even goto www.club4ag.com and you'll find more about the engine there.

my first AE92 was 89, than i had an 88, and now i have 90.... they're great cars, but if you want speed and track specialist, this ain't the car... mine is just a chillin car :)

Yeah I was on Club4ag.com mostly AE86 info not much there for the AE92....and you were right about the AE92....I found out the difference last night.....the "2" is for the DX Corolla's, a "5" is the SR-5 and an "8" is the GT-S, but they are all AE92.......

I don't want to make it into a track specialist....I am just sick of not being able to do much against A-holes on the road who always want to race me....thats not my only motivation...I want oto make this car what I like to call a "Ripper". I am basically planning to make this car a street legal eliminator. I live about 45min from Englishtown Raceway so I can go there anytime I want to do whatever....autocross, drag race, they even have drifting, but I don't plan on ever trying that with this car.

Thanks for the info on the websites, I'll look into it.
