I have an 07 LE and was considering installing an aftermarket remote start/alarm system. Most of these systems come with keyless entry as well, but I am wondering, will I loose all functionality of the built-in buttons on the key if I add an aftermarket system? If I forgo the remote start, is there a way to intergrate an aftermarket alarm's controls into the factory buttons?

Why not get the toyota factory remote start and alarm? Yes, It may be more expensive, but good for warranty puposes and easier to install/operate

My dealer told me they could have an after market installed for $225 and yes I would lose the functions on the key. If I wanted the factory remote start with all features working from the key it would cost $645.

I have Viper Alarm installed on my 07 LE I4. It is intergrated into the built-in button key.
That was my requirement to the local alarm/audio store in San Diego. They read the manual, log on to Viper website and confirmed that it can be done. 2 hours later I got my Viper alarm installed for $240. I chose not to use the "blinking" light, instead it use the same light that the factory use which is up in the dash with an icon of the car (near the clock) I am not sure about the remote starter since I don't have one.

I could do without the remote start. I've been looking into the factory system, but this would be nice and much cheaper. What's the model of the Viper system you have??? Do you know the link from the viper site showing how this can be done? Thanks

Hey I just got my Mars 22 Unit installed on my 07 LE I4 as well. I was interested in doing the same thing that you had done with youres. I wanted to use a factory toyota remote start key to go along with my remote start system. If you understand what im talking about and have any suggestions let me know!. I paid $200 for my remote start!

Sorry, I understand what you are trying to do but have no clue how to do it.
Your best bet is go to car alarm specialist in your area for their expertise. When it comes to electronic system I don't dare to mess around!

You should look into the Viper 791xv. It's a great bang for the buck alarm system with remote start.
I agreed with you. But I didn't know much about alarm at the time so when they said Viper...I didn't know they gave me the lowest model

I've seen several factory upgrade alarms, and several factory upgrade remote starters, all that are controlled with the factory remote. I have yet to find any units that incorporate both, but does anyone know if it is possible to hook up the two seperate units and somehow get them to work together so that the alarm isn't going off everytime I start the car?
