Installing 2008 Toyota Corolla Factory Alarm

We just bought a 2008 Corolla S. It already came with the factory keyless entry. I would like to install the factory alarm. Does anyone know the parts (and part numbers) I need to do the install myself? Is it plug and play just like the Honda factory alarms? Thanks!

I started playing around with our S (this is our first Toyota ever). And I see the following on the left hand side of the turn signal:

A red LED blinks on the "Security". Does this mean we have an alarm already? It doesn't matter if the car is locked or unlocked with the keyless entry key fob, that "Security" red LED blinks no matter what. So I figured I'll open the windows so I can reach in and unlock the car manually from the outside and open the door...I did not hear a car alarm when I did that.

the Security LED isn't the car alarm. it's just the status light for the smart key reader inside the car (in the rubberhead of the key, there's an RFID chip that talks with the reader when you try to start the car. if the RFID chip isn't there or is broken, the car won't start).
I saw this alarm here: PT398-02082
http://www.toyotapart.com/search-results.asp?s=PT398-02082&PN=Yes

But the above is for the 2008 Matrix. Will it work with our 2008 Corolla S w/ keyless entry?

I also saw something similar....but for the 2008 Avalon...but has different part number.
I finally got confirmation from a Toyota dealer as well as this web site confirms the right RS3200 Plus VIP part number for the 2008 Corolla S w/ keyless entry system: http://www.brandsport.com/toy-pt398-02082-toyota-corolla.html
Ok, I bought the RS3200 Plus from the local dealer this afternoon. When I got home, to my surprise, there were no installation instructions included! Anyone have it? Thanks.

..thanks for responding. Those aren't installation instructions though. This is the user's manual. I've googled long and hard before posting this question here.
For those who need it...I found it...thanks to toyotaparts4u.com!!!

I finally found some time this past weekend to install the factory alarm in my wife's Corolla S. Here are some notes during installation:

1) If you don't have one, buy a nylon panel removal tool. I bought a set of 5 from ebay for about $15 including shipping: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120224790579 Using a metal tool will most likely scratch the surface...you don't want that.

2) Before doing the install, take everything out of the box and layout the included wire harness on a flat surface and walk-thru the installation in your mind so that you understand and know what to expect during the actual installation. If you have questions, it's better to ask them before you start the installation rather than during the installation!

3) I had a hard time removing the step cover even using the panel removal tool...so I just loosened it and just ran the wire through. I didn't remove the driver side center pillar cover as suggested in page 9 of the installation PDF as it was hard to remove. I just used a wire hanger to fish the cable thru from one side to the other.

4) Don't bother removing the gearshift cover nor the center cluster panel as suggested in page 6 of the installation PDF. I found the center cluster panel hard to remove. You can fish the wire harness from the meter panel thru the center cluster panel all the way to the passenger glove compartment box.

5) The hardest thing to do is install the GBS ECU as described in page 21. You need to mount the bracket on a metal bar inside and above the glove compartment box. To do so, you must use a small torque wrench so that you can reach inside and above the glove compartment box.

6) This isn't the first time that I've installed an alarm. I've done factory alarm installs on an Acura Integra, Honda Civic, and BMW M3. This Corolla S by far is the hardest install I've done. I wished Toyota pre-wired the car for the factory alarm. The included wire harness is semi plug and play, but you still need to splice 4 wires. It took me about 8 hours to disassemble, install, and reassemble everything back. I paid extra attention to details to avoid having to redo the installation, and am glad I did so.

7) This factory alarm installation requires that you already have a keyless entry installed. You will use your keyfob to engage/disengage the alarm system. The factory alarm doesn't include additional keyfobs. Use what you already have.

Here are some photos of the "ugly" stuff:

Meter Panel

Cluster Panel

Inside the Steering Column

Passenger Cowl

Trunk Side Trim Panel

Glove Compartment

Passenger Vent

Gear Shift Panel (I found it's not necessary to remove)

2 Wires Spliced in Meter Panel

Sorry...I didn't get the chance to take photos of the full installation after everything was connected.

well then as PT398-02082 there is with out Piezo chirp when arming/disarming alarm, but 08586-02850 which have Piezo chirp when arming/disarming alarm. just click the link you post and they list the difference.
I guess they did away with the chirp on the 2008's... :(
Older style alarm on an "08?

Does anyone know if you can install an older style Factory alarm, with the "Piezo Chirp" in an "08?

you mentioned splicing wires.
can you give any more details on that step.
for example, what did you spice? and where?
what did you need? what was the hardest part of this step?
would a wire splicing kit be helpful??
what would have made this step easier??

i hope that makes sense.

Thanks! :)

are those the power cables? red = power, yes?
did you not have to hook up to the head lights?
or to the car horn?
I have no idea yet, since i didn't put in my alarm, but soon will be, I just finish up putting in my HID kit, disabled DRL, upgraded aftermarket stereo, all stock speakers, and amp with subwoofer, in the following week or 2 will try to put the alarm in.

read the installation guide here, might give you better idea.

wow, impressive.
i am about to install a "power locks kit" to upgrade my manual locks to power locks so that i can have keyless entry. I am also installing a "trunk popper" for the remote. but along with the kit is an alarm, and i have every part of the installation down except the wiring. as far as the locks and keyless entry goes, I know i will need to tie into an active power source of some sort, (the radio seems to be the best bet), but then for the alarm, i am not sure if i will need to wire into the lights and horn. also, if i want my keyless entry to "chirp" upon locking, i am thinking i might need to tie into the horns. not sure.

i have gone through 56 pages in these forums,
and in the "9th gen corolla" [dot]com forums.
wiring seems to be the most vague aspect of this topic. :(
