there should be a cover behind the back seats...it's a chipboard base with a vinyl covering, so be really careful with removal...the wires should be taped together under it...if you dont want to take the cover off, you can always stick your hand in the speaker hole (in the trunk) and feel around for them

For my 91. The rear speakers were brown/yellow for one side and then white/red for the other side. I can't remember for sure right now because I'm sitting in class and can't go check.

But they should be there. They might be under the rear dash, but just look for two pairs of wires that aren't going to anything.

I hope I am not hijacking your thread...but I have a question on this issue. Some months ago, my sound system "went." At first, I used to get a crackling sound when I would try to run a tape....not always, just sometimes. Then, no tape ability at all. But still radio. One day, no radio.

So, is it the unit itself, is it the speakers, or is it the wires or antenna or all of the above.

It is very lonely driving a music-less car, let me tell you. I sing and talk aloud to myself while driving now...passersbye likely think I am nuts.

That sounds like your deck was slowly buy surely dying one function at a time. Try the junkyard for another Toyota deck.
