I had a K&N on my 06 F150 and was pleased with it. i have bought one for my 05 Tacoma but haven't installed it yet. I've been reading reviews here and other places and no one really seems to like them on their toyotas. Any suggestions on what to run if anything? Also what exhaust are ya'll happy with? I haven't personally heard an aftermarket exhaust on a tacoma. Can't imagine i would be impressed with it (only being a six cylinder) but i would love to be proven wrong!

There's also an exhaust thread with tons of clips in it. Do a search and I'm sure it will come up. Also, another good way is to search "tacoma" on Youtube.

for max performance and to get the most gain out of your intake and exhaust... everyone here highly reccomend getting a urd maf cal sensor. :thumbup:

If you already have experience with the K&N and you like it.... then that's the reason why you bought another one. Save your money and install what you already purchased.

Run with it for a while and make your own judgement whether you like it or not.

^ I agree. I have a K&N intake with my Deltaflow 50 series Flowmaster I love the groowl. :thumbup:

I have the Magnaflow with the Airaid intake. I like the airaid cause its quiet and you don't have to do any cutting like you do with the k&n but I know alot of people don't like it. As for the Magnaflow, I hated it at first and was really bummed that I had gotten it because I thought it sounded like a whiny rice burner. It has broken in now and I LOVE the sound!

i have k&n and love it. i dont know why people hate k&n here but i put mine on and i can def hear, see, and feel a gain in power and throttle response. I dont know about gas mileage.

urd also has a good intake

URD intake and URD MAF Sensor Calibrator with stock exhaust (for now). Getting a Magnaflow custom dual exhaust soon.

Love the set-up right now though.

There is no cutting with the K&N. All of them except the URD install almost exactly the same. All of them except the URD perform and sound almost exactly the same. You do have to cut with the URD though, and that's why I didn't go with it.

You`d have to hear it yourself in person to truly be impressed but there is a huge sound difference over stock with any of the exhausts.
You need to check out some sound clips to see what kind of sound you`d be happy with if you can`t locate any trucks w/exhausts, every muffler/pipe setup has a little different sound to it.

I wanted a low growl but not a lot of noise in the cab on long trips so I went with a Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 single in/dual out and dumped the pipes out the sides. I love the way it sounds, didn`t lose any noticable low end torque and am very happy with the performance at mid range and top end.

Here`s a sound clip, it`s more accurate if you have a sub on your computer but you`ll get the idea.

I have to disagree with you JD, I had a K&N drop in at the time of the video and an AFE Magnum Force Stage 1 after that, now I`m running the TRD intake and I can say from experience they do not all sound or perform almost exactly the same. The TRD is by far the best of the ones I`ve tried I noticed the difference immediately.
The only reason I didn`t go with the URD is because of the exposed location of the filter. I know no one has had a problem with it and I could build a shield for it if I wanted to but I am really impressed with the TRD.
If you can swing it, save up the money and get it.

I couldn`t justify the price at first but after running it for several months now I can honestly say it was worth it imo, I`m so happy with my trucks performance I don`t even think I`m going to do the MAF calibrator now..........but that could change

My air intake is the stock one modified, urd maf controler, and on the exhaust we used the magna flow XL.....we cut the stock pipe right after it comes under the tranfer case eliminating the "y together" pipe and then jumped each side up to 2 7/8 going into the muffler and then 3" tail pipe...the mf XL is 3" inside diametet 2 into one design.......the good part is that the XL doesn't have any ricy sound at all.

overall it is pretty good set up

i have the flowmaster 40 series and i love the growl already im still lookin to put a intake on my '07 TRD off-road tacoma but i've actually looked into K&N intakes and so far those make our truck increase in hp (10.31) but really if your worried about the sound i think any kind of intake u put on there its going to sound nice not all intakes will increase hp like u want to but goood luck! TACOS RULE!!!!!

Seriously, I'm all for keeping the environment clean and what not. But let's go after the REAL producers of pollution. Let's stop wasting time trying to make people feel guilty for driving their cars. It's time to go after the mega corps that manage to buy and sell these so called pollution exemption tickets and make the actually clean up the shit they spew out.

How do you like your trd intake? I have flowmaster 40 duals now and im pretty much set on the trd intake.
