I searched, but couldn't really find any clear answers on what is accepted to be the best brand CAI. What is preferred around here? I use a fenderwell intake on my Pontiac, but I know this is a different animal... I have generally noticed that import drivers choose a cone filter/ pipe combo, is this the case? I'm asking for my boyfriend's 2000 Corolla, he wants a little more out of his car and to my knowledge, air flow is the place to start.

Also, where does everyone get their clear corners?

clear corners are all over ebay.
CAI is almost pointless on a econobox. Just get him a replacement filter by K&N.
If he wants power tell him to save up and replace the engine with a 20v 4age.

ELP prototypes is a good brand but are really really hard to find. last time i saw one for sale it was just the tube.

also the clear corners are for sale on ebay for like 20 bucks

Anyways, the best CAI would be the EL Prototypes CAI like mentioned above. However, it's been discontinued and is extremely rare. It's almost a collector's item now. A K&N drop in should be sufficient for now. im a fan of the blacked out corners, even more then the clear corners.

if you dont want to get a CAI and want an SRI weapon-r makes a few for the 98-00 and i like mine. but the k&n drop in filters are good i used to have one.

Why don't you hold off on the intake manifold. It might just have to be replaced with with a low profile TRD supercharger.

lol yeah maybe but im kind of leaning towards getting a manual tranny conversion instead of possibly compromising the 1zz reliability awesomeness.

It would still be reliable at low boost. Then do your manual conversion.
