iPod Control?

Is Toyota or a third party aftermarket company going to make an iPod accessory for the 2009 Corolla that will give you more control than the AUX input?

wow, toyota needs to wake up and get with the ipod revolution. i have an 05 that i hated because ths stock deck had no decent iPod controls - but now the 09, and all they can come up with is an aux port ? how about a built in iPOD doc with high speed controls and a display to show playlists/songs/album and maybe cover art !

i love toyota , but they need to talk to the nice people at Apple so they can get it together already. :)
I would like for all factory HU's to have an internal HD so you could download all your music from what ever MP3 you have and not have to plug in something else.

That's pointless. Why have have a built-in hard drive that is difficult to keep synced with your music when you can just use your iPod or even a USB thumb drive in some cars.

Because then you don't need to have an I-pod or any other MP3 plugged in with a cable to clutter up the cabin.
Keeping things synced isn't a problem for most of us.
HD could be removable.
Some of us don't use I-pods either.

Keeping it synched is a problem for anyone who wants to frequently add new music (or even podcasts) and not keep listening to the same static songs.
It will be a hassle to copy new songs to a car's built-in hard disk. How are you going to get new songs onto it? Bring a CD and rip them in the car one by one?
There is no "clutter" with the MP3 player in a compartment.

It's sad that Toyota chose to put the AUX input in plain sight when they could have easily put it in the console storage under the armrest.
There are no wires needed for a USB thumb drive.

I said the HD could be removable. They can still have an AUX input for you too. I just like to have a clean car. No Ipod or gps to clutter up my space and worry about getting ripped off. Built in all the way.
My opinion and OBVIOUSLY yours differs. That's what makes this world less boring.;)
Look at this ipod interface works with all toyota radios from 1998 and up

for the 09 corolla and some of the other models (matrix, camry, etc.), toyota is offering a P5 option, which gives will interface your iPod with the factory stereo. I forgot how much the option exactly it costs, but if you wanted it, you can order it with your car as a PPO.
It costs $299 the interface.. But we already bought it (car).. Is the price gonna change if we go back and ask "hey we wanted this thing"?.. can we find a cheaper one and take it to the dealer to be installed? mine is base stock stereo that has "SAT" button on it..

about the HDfied stereo.. i think it's not Toyota that should come up with it or befriend with apple.. It's Apple who should come up with carPOD stereo that you can put in any car and that syncs from your iPOD.. I think stereos with HD exist though.. on asian market..

This is the price you'll pay. If they want to charge you more just call another dealer. I'm surprised this thread has gone on as long before someone mentioned they sell exactly what the op wants. We sell them all the time (2-3 a month)
The iPod interface was released when the 09 Corolla was introduced. I can't believe this thread went on for so long.

Here is what I did, 411 added

Changer, still getting the kinks worked out, but I got most of it done..............................

The View of the Stock Radio

The View of the Back, where to plug it in

the place where i selected to put in the soundlinQ-2 unit

and the End result

The Fact is The steering wheel control is still useable to control the IPOD the unit is controlling the IPOD like a CD Changer and the best thing of all I can use the AUX jack for other purposes like hookin in my Daughter's Nano when she wants to use it too

All is thanks to paul of juicyhybrid.com specifically get the PODTOYSL2I unit
