Before I got my 07 Corolla 2 years ago, my only driving experience came from a V8 98 Ford Explorer. I was floored by how much better my Corolla handled and gasp I actually felt like I'm going much faster in my Corolla at any speed compared to my Ford explorer.(Which makes sense because the Corolla sits lower to the ground).
Since I got my that car, I've temporarily driven a Kia soul(16),Sportage(19), Sorento(2012 V6), Silverado (07) and a 21 Corolla, but none of those vehicles have a handling or driving feel like my Corolla. Actually I felt like I was going faster in my vehicle at any speed compared to all of those. And I did "feel" like my vehicle accelerated faster than any of them except the Sorento and Sportage. Of course, feeling like it accelerates faster is different than it factually accelerating faster.
I think I drive my Corolla much harder than the average Corolla driver though. My day to day driving consists of going up to at least 2600rpm to get up to speed, and half the time I go up to say 3200-4000 rpm.
I do some mountain driving occasionally to get to travel to places (so I stay in the lower gears even though I have an automatic )and I floor the car occasionally from stop lights or to get on the highway. It's all very fun to me compared to all of the other cars I've driven. The v6 Sorento I've driven is alot faster for sure, but if I was given the chanve I wouldn't feel comfortable driving it on mountain roads at the speed that I do with my Corolla.
