Is the MAF or AIR Mass Sensor

I have had a check engine light on for a a little while and took in to PepBoys and paid for the Diagnostic. They gave me two sheets of paper one which was yellow, that says technician recommendations at the bottom, it said "NEED TO CLEAN MAF" on the other sheet which is like an estimate to do work, it has pricing to purchase a REMANUFACTURED AIR MASS SENSOR FOR $241.99. are these 2 different sensors? or the same thing? Because I have read on the board for the most part cleaning the MAF isnt that difficult, if you are careful

it seems that they are referring to the same thing

and yes, they are easy to clean- simply undo the clamps that hold it to the intake hose, unclip the plug that goes into it from the engine harness, and then use electronic cleaner on it, let it dry, and then replace.

just be sure that you ONLY use electronic cleaner it and nothing else
