Before I press this with my dealer. I was wondering is there any reason not to get it done? I have seen some decention but for the most part it does seem it is worth while.

Thanks for the time.

Over 90% of Tacoma owners stay with the 3 leaf set up.
Probably 95% of those people don't even know of the spring TSB.
If you don't load the bed up and like the stock ride, there's no need to get the TSB.
I got it just in case I load her up which I do a few times a year and it was free.
The ride really didn't change that much to me.
The new leafs squeak like an old garbage truck after a while. If you don't have a TRD package, they will be changing the soft cushy shocks for the much firmer Bilsteins, so you will have a much stiffer ride.

He has a DC w/TRD Off Road.;)
My OLD springs squeeked like an old school bus.

To answer your question....IMO....NO reason not to do it!

If you have a DC and you put 4 adults in it with no payload, you will hit bottom with the stock springs. With the new springs you will still hit bottom, just not as often. The ride is slightly more firm but IMO, better and less body roll. You will get about 1" - 1.5" of lift when they are installed. Don't get used to it, it will settle.
The TSB even says that the drawback is a little stiffer ride.

I was one of the first ones to get the TSB done, right the week it came out. My leafs don't squeak.
I would not describe the new ride as "Stiffer", to me stiffer is bad. IMO, "firmer" and not offensive at all. I was one of the first as well, no squeeks here.
Mine started to squeak after a few months, but it's only when I climb in and out of the cab. It doesn't squeak while I'm driving down the road.

I have a 2009 Tacoma DC-SB TRD and all of them on the dealer's lot had ... "3 springs". At about 400 lbs, mine set on the rubber stops.

I have owned a bunch of Toyotas and this ... "Not-Done" - "TSB on Dealer Lot Vehicles" ... bothers me a lot.

if you dont like a firmer or harder ride, you might not want it done.
After reading about the TSB on the sprongs I stopped in and talked to my buddy that is a Tech @ the dealership where I bought my Taco. He is very familiar with the spring TSB, but when he looked it up on there computer it did not apply to my 09 DCLB. So how do I approach the dealership to get them to do it if my truck is not listed. I use my truck for hauling and towing, so I would love to have a firmer rear suspension.

Thanks.

If you have 3 leaf springs and a 5 character grouping in your VIN# is any of the following, you should qualify.I did and many others on our '09s.
I got to believe you you'll have a 5 character grouping to match a set below.

JU62N
KU72N
MU52N
LU42N
TU62N
TX62N
UU42N
UX42N
Hello Joe,

Thanks for the info. I qualify with MU52N in my vin. So now I have to figure out how to approach the dealer with this. Obviousl I will give them the TSB # and go from there. I did read somewhere on here that it also includes fronts suspension, or am I thinking of something different?

Thanks again!

If you don't have the TRD Sport Bilstein shocks then they will put those on.
Yeooow...thanks everyone. I appreciate the time.
Ok I finally got the time to read the TSB. From what I am reading it is applying to 05-08's. No where does it mention the 09 but my vin has the correct # sequence. So as to not look stupid @ the dealer or have them try to BS me, what ammo do I use to get this TBS done on an 09. Other 09 input is apperciated.

Thanks.

I printed out the TSB.Showed the service rep the VIN# sequence matched and they said they would get back to me.
Later that day, I recieved a call that they got the ok from Toyota, the parts were ordered and installed a couple of days later.
Anyone have a lift of any kind including rear blocks and having the TSB done by the dealer? I'm just wondering if they'll replace the rear leaf springs on my '06 with a 3" lift already installed.
Ok just got back from visiting the dealer. They do agree that my vin sequence # is listed for alignment ONLY. The did make an appt for a road test on Wed. The it goes to the service manager to decide wether to pass it up the line. So now what kind of ammo did the 09 guys use when encountering resistance?

Thanks.
