the pickups an '86 22r carbed 4x4. i've heard of people putting custom fitted cold air intakes (cai's) in these 22r's.

what my question is what cai did you use, what were the mileage and power benefits, and how did you do it?

From what I've heard, cold air intakes don't work that same way as they do on FI engines. You have nothing to compensate for the air density difference.

the intake inlet is already located at the front of the vehicle... for a carbed engine I would just get a K&N filter and call it a day.

besides I dont like open filters (like not in the stock air box) on 4wd vehicles. I'm too afraid mud, water, or both will get through it and into my engine. (not that we have a lot of either in texas right now)
