shoulda get injen.. thats what im planning to do.. injens are CARB legal.. so even if you get pulled over you can shove the CARB certificate up their *you-know-what*
man, i always get scared when i see a cop, i know they like my car...good luck with the ref
Ya.... I better just say close to stock. Last thing I need is a damn chippy making me pop my hood / engine lid thing. Guess I better just dump all my car money into my engine :)
G
Don't they need a warrant or some other kind of justification to get you to open up your hood?
^the noise of the intake gives them probable cause...sucks to live in california.
I'm sure they need some sort of cause. They could always just resort to saying.... your exhaust system is too loud. Please open your hood. Maybe I'll just pop my hood and tell them that it's battery powered :D
nope, probable cause means if they have reason to suspect something, ie: louder than stock intake, they are given right to inspect.

its like if you get pulled over and you smell like pot, the scent gives the officer probable cause to search your car with or without your consent.
You're telling me that you CA can't do any mods to your cars?
cant do mods that arent CARB legal. California has some crazy strict air pollution laws.
Yeah-probable cause sucks...I am not gonna ramble on like the Blacks Law Dictionary but yeah-pretty much your word or a cops word...what would a jury choose?
(Criminal justice degree here and a Law and Order fanatic)!
thay pulled me over for my tags never put new one on:disappoin
and in cali if thay ask and you say no you will sit there untill thay get a worent.just you saying ni is just couse (thats the shits

CARB legal's no guarantee that they wont make you ref and go back to stock. There's been enough civics that had carb legal parts that weren't racing that CHP gave a fix-it-ticket to, passed ref by smog and CARB and the judge still ordered them to put their cars back to stock.

Best idea, put all the money into the block, keep stock appearance parts and let them look for something.
California sucks.

In Nevada, we can do whatever the hell we want. I don't care what the law says, but we don't get hammered in the ass by those who are supposed to protect and serve

Go bust a crack house or patrol the streets for street crime, leave the god damn motorists alone unless they are being stupid.

that's the problem with a state that relies on "urban scientists" to make traffic policy. Its what made the LA Red Line cost $1 billion to build - urban scientists at CalTrans decided that a train in the middle of the 101/170 was too much of a traffic hazard (despite the green line on the 105) so MTA had to spend the extra $500 mil drilling through a mountain to get to North Hollywood. They seem to think that an intake and emissions on maybe 5% of all passenger cars on the road would push emissions levels significantly higher than two more gassy milking cows. Don't let Governor Deuce take over, ARB will be completely reigned in on its enforcement of auto enthusiasts.

If them scientists were really smart - JDM engines would be permitted as drop-ins since Japan has stricter smog rules than Cali and their engines burn cleaner.

Very much agreed, but if they did that, that would mean that they would have no funding for donuts:rolleyes:
i heard that late at night, the cops can get free donuts at certain places......is that true??? :dunno:

Wouldn't surprise me. It keeps cops close to that place late at night and criminals away from that place. It's just a I scratch your back and you scratch mine.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cops asked for free food. Of course, if the owner refused, response times for calls would probably be slower for that business.:(
