They came with 3.3 V6 or 2.4 four cyl. Manual and auto were offered with both engines. Double Cabs are V6 only in NA.

Since you're in the Northeast, you probably have lots of road salt, so with a Tacoma of that year it's very possible it could have a frame with lots of rust on it or have had its frame replaced already. If it has already been replaced, Toyota is covering it for 15 years and the frame should hold up indefinitely. If it has yet to be replaced but is still solid, the dealer will install a rust-proofing agent to deter rust and will replace the frame if it is too far gone. Aside from that, they're good little trucks and the RZ and 5VZ-FE motors are bulletproof.
