Hey guys,

I noticed the other day after i had my tires changed that there is a wierd vibration when i let off the gas at highway speeds. Thinking it might be the brakes, i bought new pads and went to change them, but the lugs were loose. So i tightened them and the noise went away.

But now a different noise is coming from where i believe is the front right passenger side wheel. Its like a knocking noise that is loud for the first few pops then it dies down to a barely noticeable knock.

It goes away when I press the brakes, and even with the clutch pressed in (its a 5 speed) the noise is still there, so i can rule out the engine being the problem. I shook the tire when i lifted it to change the brakes and it didnt seem to move at all, so i dont think that its the wheel bearings, but from what i've read and found out it might be the cv joint? Does anyone have any input?

The car is a '09 SE 5 speed with 61000 miles on it. The current pads are only about half worn on the front. Everything is original up there as well.

Thanks!

sounds like cv joint to me from a quick read. Does it do it more in turns and when accelerating? I had that issue with my avalon. Take the wheels off and inspect them for rips or tears.

Yeah, I agree, make some sharp turns in a parking lot, CV joints will pop if going bad, if not that, then check for wheel bearing noise. One other thing, look at & feel your tread, see if all treads are level, if some look higher than others you may have tread separation which will cause a tire to feel out of balance when severe or just make the tire noisy but is serious enough to require new tires. If the tires are new, some tires are just louder than others.
