If you try to trade it,when you go to the dealer bring Vaseline or KY,they won't use any.;)
you could try asking member on here for a trade, its a long shot but you never know.
thats what i was affraid of

i might try and sell it to my brother so my "hit" on depreciation is a benefit to my family

frick..
Go to the dealer, and say you want to trade for the short bed, and just have the dealer swap the seats out, it's faster then taking the leather out. You don't have enough miles on your truck to take a big hit. It's still fairly new. Dealer might offer you accessories instead of cash for the difference.

Am I reading this right you think the dealer is going to give him back money? If he tries to trade it I bet they"ll rape him for 5-7K easy. A few years ago I had a 6 month old camry with 600 miles on it which I financed for 23k tried to trade it in for the taco and they offered me 13k for it claiming that the low mileage would scare off a potential customer.
Remember, here in Canada, the shortbox only comes with a manual tranny. Gotta keep the longbox if you want an auto. Toyota's marketing in Canada sucks. No TRD Offroad double cab here either.
I find this very annoying. Only way to buy the truck is to buy in the USA. Total pain in the butt!
Either settle for a LB or jump threw all all the hoops and buy a SB in the USA.
Tell the Dealer that you want a SB DC auto to get it if they want your buisness!!! USA and Canada have this "Free Trade" agreement and alot of their trucks are made in the US. So them saying they cant get you one is a tall order of BS! SO in my thoughts If they dont want to look and try to get you what you really want then just tell them that you will let all your friends and the toyota nation that "they" are not a dealership to use for anything! Service or sales!

Flex a little mussel and strong arm them a little!

If you trade it in, I'd assume you're going to have to pay all the taxes and fees over again, at the very least.

That's over $5000 right there. Plus whatever value you lose trading it in. Are you offroading or something? Why do you want a SB?

Unless by some magic you convince them to swap you the other truck?
yikes man, why did you buy the LB if an SB is what you really wanted? if it was an availability issue, its worth the wait to get what you want rather than making a $20-25k+ mistake and changing your mind less than a year later.
Total that bitch and make your insurance company buy you a short bed!

OWWW Thats not a good solution! He could get hurt, altho the Tacoma is one if the safest mid sized P/U on the road! Still got to be a better way. Could have an electrical short or park in a badspot where ppl take ppl's stuff!
I really do not understand why you cannot get a Tacoma TRD Sport DC Auto with a shortbox in Canada. This is really beyond me. Why in the world would they only make the LB available? I do not understand. I'm just frustrated, I gotta buy the truck I want from a different country!
Can you only buy from the toyota dealer? why not try and go to a used car lot and sell it to them?

Lol, it could just roll off a cliff...accidently...;)
If anyone will help you out, it would be steward at toyota in medhat. We deal with him all the time.
He makes things happen that no one would do for us.
Worth a long shot

You can't get DC off-road package either

heir marketing dept suck.
And whats even more annoying - Toyota USA will not sell new Toyotas to Canadians!

indeed. i could've bought mine in the US because I have a visa , SSN and bank / credit score.

But when I looked for mine 6 weeks ago it was not worth it to buy it in the US, because exchange rate was not as good as today and the prices in Canada are pretty low compared to the previous years.
