Ive got a 1997 Corolla with stock headunit and speakers. However when I purchased the car both the front and rear left speakers were not working.

What could be causing the problem? Wiring, headunit or blown speakers? I want to put an mp3 headunit in, but before I do I want to figure out what the problem could be.

Any ideas?

Private or dealor? did they tell you this problem?

Since you say it's only the left, it leads me to believe that it just might be the back of the HU. See if you can take it out and see if the wires are just loose.
